2002 Product Development Trip UK
NTA's Product Orientation Trip to the United Kingdom was an overwhelming success thanks to the hard work and planning of the British Tourist Authority. Six different itineraries through Scotland, England and Wales were offered to tour operator members of NTA for a hands-on learning experience of an overseas destination.
Forty-five tour operators and two travel industry publications attended the second annual Product Orientation Trip. Tours targeted particular customer segments (i.e., seniors, boomers or student/youth) while incorporating elements for special interest markets (i.e., outdoor activities, history and heritage, literature, castles and gardens).
Participants spent five days soaking up the sites and sounds of their assigned country, and then met in London for a full-day workshop. The "Market UK B2B Workshop" included a destination presentation by regional tourist boards and one-on-one appointments between UK suppliers and NTA tour operators. NTA officials also spoke to the 56 British suppliers during a market intelligence briefing to describe the association's membership and its current global initiatives.
