Icebreaker

Hosted by the Seville Tourism Board, Andalusian Tourism Board, PRODETUR-Provinical Tourism Board of Seville and TOURSPAIN-Spanish Tourism Office of Chicago, the 2010 MONTAGE Icebreaker will be held at the Royal Alcazar Palace. Originally a Moorish fort, the beautiful palace is the oldest Royal Palace in Europe and is the residence of the Royal Family when they visit Seville.

Most of the modern Alcázar was built over Moorish ruins for King Pedro I of Castile (also known as Pedro the Cruel) with construction beginning in 1364. King Pedro I used Moorish workers to build his palace, giving it a distinctly Islamic design. The palace is one of the best remaining examples of mudéjar architecture, a style under Christian rule in Spain but using Islamic architectural influence. From the Salon de los Embajadores (The Ambassadors Room) to the Jardin de los Poetas (The Garden of the Poets), you will be amazed by the history and elegance of this beautiful palace.
